Happy HGC Day - (better known as Valentine's Day)

So, HGC?  You haven't guessed?

Hallmark Greeting Card, of course.

Santa has gotten me a multitude of different Valentine's Day gifts over the last 25 years.  From candy and cards to bunches and bunches of roses.

In his current condition . . . taking it easy after having his third eye surgery, we will not be seeing any Valentine's Day gifts this year. AND. . . I hate February.  (More on that later this month.)  Nothing personal to all you wonderful people who were born in February.  I still love all of you . . . like Itty Bitty and Aunt Sara and all the rest of you.

But I still hate February.

Don't misunderstand, I love Santa!  I really do, I am just greatly opposed to having to purchase giant teddy bears, or boatloads of chocolates and greeting cards in order to "prove" that I love my husband.  I don't think husbands should be required to do these things either.  But I admit I love getting presents.  However, I am not going to flip out about Valentine's Day this year.

I sincerely hope that you ladies out there are not holding some mythical version of the "perfect" Valentine's Day present over your significant other's head this year.  Please do not spend the next 4 months "punishing" the person you chose to spend your ENTIRE life with because your expectations of HGC day were not met.  It's just a day and if you have been shown love any of the other 364 days this year . . . please be kind on this the most stressful day of the year for many husbands out there.

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7
