the Music of Christmas

Growing up THIS was a sure sign that Christmas had arrived.   My parents had a console stereo as long as a sofa with storage on each end for albums.  They had many, many Christmas albums in their collection.  But I specifically remember THIS album as being "THE" Christmas album I wanted to hear each year.  No singing, just instrumental music.  Plus, I would sit and stare at the album cover the entire time!

It's not any better (or worse) than any of the other twenty or so albums they owned, but this one sticks in my memory.

My father had a large speaker that he decorated as a wrapped Christmas present that hung from the roof of our front porch and he played Christmas music for our entire neighborhood.

We ALWAYS had to wait until after my sister's birthday (Dec. 22) to put our Christmas tree up, so it was almost Christmas before we could even decorate.  Everyone else in our neighborhood decorated early, except for us.

My absolute favorite Christmas song is "Carol of the Bells".  I don't know why, but it has always been my favorite ever since I was very young.  So here for your listening enjoyment . . .

I know this version is a little un-orthodox  . . . but so am I   :).

Merry Christmas every body!
