Well, when I started blogging I had no idea what I was doing or where this would lead. I have "met" some very interesting people and come to love reading about their lives on their blogs. Now with my daughter and daughter-in-law getting started in blogging I am blessed to think that all of this started as a single idea from a good friend at my church.
Recently, I have been approached by a couple of different marketers about doing guest blog posts (for money) and allowing some companies to advertise on my blog. This was my first experience with advertisers and I am guessing they have seen my page view numbers and decided to get some exposure to their products via all you wonderful readers out there.
Of course, this doesn't include FlyBy Promotions who I am currently reviewing "some" products for and offering them to you in the form of giveaways. When I was approached by this company their whole company is about providing Christian faith-based media to families. AND FlyBy Promotions contacted me a couple of years ago, prior to the recent boom in page views.
This is my experience so far. . .
The first contact I had several back and forth emails detailing what they would like to post and at what fee, etc. That is until I asked this question:
Are you a follower of Jesus Christ?
Then the emailing ceased. Abruptly and with no further contact.
The second contact I decided to cut straight to the chase. So my first reply to this advertiser was:
"I recently realized that I should ask these questions first before we go any further. First, are you a follower of Jesus Christ? AND second, have you ever read my blog?"
The reply was as follows:
I have an inquiry for you, do you know any other bloggers who may be interested in selling advertising space?
That is all, no further follow up.
So I was wondering if any of you other bloggers out there have sold advertising and if so, what criteria do you use when choosing advertisers / guest bloggers?
