black and white Wednesdays - fun photos

This week's contest is over!  Click here to see the WINNERS!

I have been having the most amazing fun ever this (pre-Christmas photo) season!  I have so many sessions scheduled and so many sessions that I have done . . . I just wanted to take a minute and just praise God.  Without His amazing timing and His amazing world of light and color, none of these photo sessions would be possible.  He is really the one who fills my camera with these amazing shots . . . not me.  I am truly amazed sometimes when I see what He has put on my memory card.  Just so we are clear . . . He gets all the glory!

You can check out some of the posted previews on our facebook fan page.

This weekend we were having a little fun with Christmas lights and I wanted to share with all of you.

I would like to tell you that I learned a lot about long exposure, and how to set my camera settings . . . with some really professional sounding mumbo jumbo to impress you guys. . . but I didn't.

Santa showed me the main thing I was doing wrong was holding the tripod with my free hand and that was causing the teeniest vibration making my shots a little blurry.

So when he snapped this one to show me . . . wow at the difference!  Love it.  The other thing is on my Nikon D5100, I just set my camera on AutoFocus and No Flash, and hold really still and VOILA!  Great results.  It does automatically do a longer exposure.

I love what the black and white does for this photo.  Just makes the whole shot a little more intimate, in my opinion.  This was a really fun evening too, with Skittles and Kisses coming over and hanging out it was like old times.

Also you can see the new copyright logo on my photos . . . what do you think?  Some people were confused and thought my logo said "Iced (as in ice) photography" instead of like Christmas every day.  So I changed it and added my own photo of a Christmas bow.  Do you like?

Hope you guys have some truly awesome photos to enter in our weekly contest!

Here are some more great blog hops to join!

  1. These photos are truly beautiful! I'm so happy for you that you are getting good tips and having great photo sessions with clients.

  2. Those are nice!!! I love them.

I droll over the Nikon 5100...I was saving my money but the car died! Now I have to use my saved camera money for a new transmission. Stupid CAR!!! Stupid transmission!!!

On another note: I thought your photos said iced and I didn't get it. I like the new look. It's so clean!

    xoxo, Lisa

    1. Oh no! I'm sorry about your transmission. The D5100 has a lot of cool features but also allows you to learn some of the manual settings too. I love mine. Next one I'm saving for is a full frame camera like the D90 or whatever is equivalent by the time I save up. LOL!

  3. Ethereal. I would have liked it even more if they were more in the middle of the darkness, but still....great exposure and tack sharp!

    1. I will have to try that next time! :) Thanks Rosemary!

Thanks so much for leaving a comment . . .I just love them!!
