Tootsie Pop - The Gardener

More from the Candy Jar Stories . . .

This is one of my absolute favorite stories about Tootsie Pop.  I smile every time I think about it.  LOL!

Okay, let's see our friend Car-ee (pronounced Car, like automobile car and then ee, Car-ee) even funnier.  This was the name Skittles gave her because he couldn't pronounce her real name.  Car-ee, if you are reading this, I'm sure your version is a lot funnier, since you were actually there.

Lollipop and Tootsie Pop were staying with Car-ee while Santa and I were at a computer software convention or on an installation trip.  Anyway, they were staying with her for several days.  They were pretty small, Tootsie Pop might have been 7 or 8 years old, I guess.

Car-ee had a pretty large garden and she thought it would help pass the time if they helped her pick vegetables out of the garden.  So she explained some of the basic rules about picking vegetables.  They were about to pick green beans one day and Car-ee explained that the green beans needed to be longer than their finger in order to pick them.  Otherwise, if they weren't as long as your finger well they needed to grow a little longer.

So they get buckets and head to the garden.  Everything goes along pretty well at first, and Car-ee checks to see how the girls are doing and she sees Tootsie Pop doing this really weird thing.

She is picking green beans and checking them against the length of her finger just like Car-ee said, but then she's throwing them back into the garden.  Car-ee comes running over to her and says, "Sweetie, what in the world are you doing?"

Tootsie Pop, very matter-of-fact, says, "Well, these ones are too little so I'm throwing them back because they need to grow some more."  (you know like fish or something)

You just can't make some of this stuff up.  LOL!!
