Rant Much?

Okay, people. I know a lot of you have seen my posts where I complain about my satellite internet service . . . which I HATE! It's not slow. It's actually pretty fast! That is not the problem.

The problem is that when you reach the maximum number of MB in downloads, they TURN OFF THE INTERNET. Yes, you heard me correctly.

They shut down the connection so it moves slower than dial-up internet. How lame is that with today's technological advances that my internet is thrown back to 20 years ago, just because I downloaded/uploaded more than the DAILY LIMIT.

So . . . today, Santa and I went to the AT&T store in El Dorado to get a MiFi wireless connection device. This is similar to an "air card" in that it uses the cellular signal to get online. There is a 5 GB MONTHLY limit. But if you go over instead of turning off the internet, they simply charge you more money.

I say simply like I have all the money in the world. I don't, but I think it is much wiser to charge the people that use more internet downloads than it is to TURN OFF the internet. Ridiculous. Besides the fact that it is HALF the monthly price!!

So I will let you know how it turns out.

Prior to this I would either wait until 1:00 a.m. to upload pictures or have to copy them to a memory stick and take them to the office to upload them. I have some more shots of Ashley and her BF to share with you, but honestly, I just didn't want to stay up that late to upload them.

The MiFi device is supposed to allow up to 5 computers to connect wirelessly to the internet AND since we recently got 3G at our house, this is a much better solution than the satellite internet we had. I would like to chop that satellite down to the ground, BUT Santa said no.

He said he was going to try to sell it on eBay! So if you are looking for some satellite internet equipment, we can hook you up. If you live in the boonies, it's a good solution. It's just not for us, with 4 techno-junkies living under one roof, it's easy for us to go over the limit.

I'll let you know how it works out! Or you will know because I will have lots of pictures to upload.
