Do you know people like this? No matter the circumstances they are going to look at the bad side. Even the good things in life get a negative spin . . . a raise = higher tax bracket; an unexpected win = yeah but what about the last time; even an unsolicited hug = "What do YOU want?"
When Santa's helpers were small, Santa and I had to go out of town a lot on business and there were a few tremendously generous friends who would let sometimes all four of them stay at their house while we were out of town. I always gave the same speech before dropping them off. . . Mrs. ? does not have to give you anything. They do not buy you anything or feed you anything. They do not HAVE to do anything for you. So you better be thankful for whatever you get while we are gone. I only asked them to watch you, that's it. So if you get some food or water you better be grateful. If you have fun at their house, well that's a BIG bonus, cause I didn't say anything about having fun. LOL! But I wanted to prove a point and that was these people don't OWE you anything. They are doing this out of the kindness of their heart and for that they need to be thanked.
Are you grateful? Truly grateful for the things you have, or are you constantly dissatisfied with your life, your car, your house, your kids, your spouse, your hair, your wardrobe, you lawn . . . your church? (Ouch!)
So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures. James 1:16-18 (The Message)
I am truly grateful for my 1/2 FULL glass! Hey, why wouldn't I be . . . it's Christmas right? Every single day!!!
